A Marshall Plan Scholarship Program for 1000 Austrian and American Students
Vienna, June 5, 2007
On June 5, 2007 U.S. Ambassador Susan McCaw in her speech at the Marshall Plan 60th Anniversary hosted by the Austrian Wirtschaftsservice Gesellschaft in the Belvedere announced the establishment of a bilateral student exchange program for 1000 American and Austrian students for the academic years 2008 through 2017.
The program will be funded by the Austrian ERP Fund to strengthen Austro-American relations in the Spirit of the Marshall Plan.
In her speech the Ambassador hoped that through "these new Marshall Plan scholarships, students will return to their respective countries with broadened perspectives, an appreciation of shared values and a respect for divergent points of view."
The Memorandum of Understanding to establish this bilateral exchange program was signed on June 5, 2007 by Austrian Minister Dr. Martin Bartenstein and U.S. Ambassador Susan McCaw.
