Eurofighter: US Government Authorizes Releases
of Communications Equipment

Vienna, May 21, 2007

The US Embassy Vienna is pleased to announce that the releases of critical communications equipment for inclusion in Austria's newly acquired Eurofighter aircraft have now been approved by the US Department of State and the Department of Defense. In January 2007, the government of Austria requested these releases. This equipment will allow the Austrian Air Force to be inter-operable with US and NATO forces.

In the past the Austrian media has referred to terms of "software" and "licenses". In fact the US and Austrian governments have been negotiating Releases for the use of the necessary communications systems on board the Eurofighter interceptors.
