Airport Security - What Works What Doesn't - and What Does It Mean for the Traveler?

Vienna, April 22, 2008


An international conference and exhibit on airport security and technology with airport executives and security experts from Europe and the United States is taking place in Vienna from April 28-30, 2008 at the Intercontinental Hotel.

The welcome and opening of the conference takes place on Tuesday, April 29 at 9:00 a.m. at the InterContinental Hotel (Johannesgasse 28; 1037 Wien) and is open to the media.

The views of airport Security from the Austrian Government's Perspective and the view from the United States will be presented. The conference participants are airport executives, representatives from the business community, the travel industry and airport security experts.

There will be a Press Conference on Tuesday, April 29 from 10:00 - 10:30 a.m. at the InterContinental Hotel with the following US representatives:

Krys T. Bart
President/CEO for the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority, responsible for leading and directing the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, and the Reno Stead Airport, with an operating revenue budget of $42 million, and 260 employees. She holds the prestigious position of Chair of the Board of the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE). The AAAE is a non-profit professional organization made up of international airport executives and is considered the most influential airport organization in the world.

Timothy L. Campbell
was appointed the Executive Director of the Maryland Aviation Administration in December 2005. As MAA Executive Director, Mr. Campbell is responsible for the planning, operation, and management of Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, Martin State Airport, and regional aviation activities for the State of Maryland. BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport is a large hub airport that served 21 million passengers in 2007. Campbell currently serves as Chair of the International Association of Airport Executives.

J. Spencer Dickerson, Jr.
Senior Executive Vice President of the American Association of Airport Executives and Executive Director of the U.S. Contract Tower Association (affiliated AAAE organization) and Executive Director of the International Association of Airport Executives (affiliated AAAE organization). Significant experience in working with officials at the Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, National Transportation Safety Board, and the U.S. Congress on various airport and aviation issues.
