Remarks by Cultural Attaché Katherine Perez
Good morning everyone. On behalf of the U.S. Embassy I would like to welcome you to a talk and discussion about the U.S. presidential election. I am Katherine Perez, the Cultural Attaché of the Embassy.
Please let me first thank the IMC University of Applied Sciences for hosting today's event. It has always been a pleasure to work with the faculty and the entire university team here, and to meet and talk to the students. Thank you.
I'm very pleased that Amy Walter has accepted the invitation to speak in Austria. You might know Amy Walter from her frequent appearances on CNN, providing political analyses of the elections.
She is certainly one of America's top political forecasters. As the editor-in-chief of The Hotline, Washington's premier daily briefing on American politics, she is the publication's primary voice.
Ms. Walter has also served as a panelist and commentator on political talk shows on CBS, NBC, HBO and PBS - to name just a few. She provided election night commentary for CNN in 2002 and 2004, and was a member of CNN's Emmy-award winning election night team in 2006. She is frequently quoted as a congressional election expert in newspapers such as The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and The New York Times.
Given her extensive experience, Amy Walter speaks with aplomb about the electoral process and the Washington political scene on the whole. She has served as an adjunct professor at the School of Communications at American University. Ms. Walter graduated summa cum laude from Colby College.
I'm much looking forward to this most interesting evening. Amy the floor is yours.
Thank you.
