Responding to keen interest among Austrians, economist David Pistrui of
the Illinois Institute of Technology discussed the opportunities and
challenges of the Obama Administration's recovery and reinvestment plan
(also known as the stimulus package) to a packed Amerika Haus in Vienna
on May 19. Dr. Pistrui explored the potential impact of the stimulus
package on the American business community as well as its impact on
social and economic development in the U.S. Following the lecture, Eric
Frey, managing editor of the Austrian daily Der Standard engaged in Dr.
Pistrui in a discussion focusing on the European view of the global
financial crisis and the Obama Administration's plans to help resolve
