Women Without Borders
Round Table Discussion

Hotel Ambassador
Vienna, June 14, 2007

At the Hotel Ambassador, Karen Hughes, Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, U.S. Department of State, participated in a Women's Empowerment Roundtable discussion, together with Deputy Assistant Secretary Colleen Graffy, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Ambassador to Austria Susan McCaw and an Austrian-based international NGO, Women Without Borders (WWB). WWB presented some recent and current projects. During the fruitful discussion following the presentation, Hughes helped WWB to brainstorm extensions to existing women's empowerment projects in South Asia and the Middle East to more countries within the regions, and examined where the U.S. Government might be able to play a constructive role. Journalists from the busines weekly Format and from Woman magazine were also present at the discussion.
