U.S. Embassy Vienna Hands Over Charity Funds To CARE Austria

Black History Month Charity Festival for Darfur

CARE Österreich
Vienna, May 6, 2008

Chargé d'Affaires Scott F. Kilner, U.S. Embassy Vienna, turned over a symbolic check representing a real €4,500 (approx. $7,000) donation to CARE Austria on May 6 for the relief organization’s Darfur aid operations. The money was raised through a Black History Month charity festival in February, organized by the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy Vienna together with the Vienna Theatre Project. CARE Austria representative Ulrike Schelander thanked the Embassy for the initiative and complimented the participating artists on the high standard of their performances. The month-long festival program included a concert, the Austrian premiere of Jeff Stetson’s play “The Meeting,” and movie screenings.
