    • Remarks by Chargé d'Affaires Christopher J. Hoh, U.S. Embassy Vienna

The U.S. Embassy Vienna’s July Fourth celebration, hosted by just-arrived Chargé d’Affaires Christopher J. Hoh, drew some 800 guests. Austrian officials, diplomats, journalists, businessmen and private citizens attended, including Austrian Federal Minister for Justice Claudia Bandion-Ortner. In his welcoming remarks in German and English, the Chargé highlighted the optimistic spirit of the United States since its independence and the promise of change brought to office by President Obama. This year’s party theme, “The Endless Summer,” was evoked by tunes of the Beach Boys and similar groups, courtesy of the U.S. Navy Rock Band “Topside.”
