PHOTOGRAPHS FOR USE WITH U.S. NON-
IMMIGRANT VISAS

NOTE: The interview cannot take place until we have received photos which comply with the standard decribed below. Please do not delay your interview by presenting inadequate photos.

All visa applicants must submit a current photograph of themselves with each visa application. Photos must measure two inches by two inches (5 cm by 5 cm), with the head centered in the frame. The image size from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head (including hair) should measure between 1 inch (2.5 cm) and 1 3/8 inches (3,5 cm), with the eye level between 1 1/8 inches to 1 3/8 inches (2,8 cm to 3,5 cm) from the bottom of the photo.

The photographs must be on photopaper and must have been taken within six months of the date of application. Photos must be in color and taken against a plain white background. They must show a full frontal view of the bearer, without glasses or head-coverings. Head-coverings are accepted only under very limited circumstances (e.g. religious reasons) and then only when the applicant's face is completely exposed.

Alle Visumsantragsteller/innen müssen für jeden Visumsantrag ein Passfoto vorlegen. Die Fotos müssen 5x5 cm (ohne weissen Rand) messen und der Kopf muss sich in der Bildmitte befinden. Die Kopfgrösse muss vom Kinn bis zum Scheitel zwischen 2,5 cm und 3,5 cm betragen und die Augen müssen sich vom unteren Bildrand gemessen in einer Höhe von 2,8 cm bis 3,5 cm befinden.

Die Fotos müssen auf Fotopapier gedruckt und dürfen zum Zeitpunkt der Antragstellung nicht älter als sechs Monate sein. Sie müssen in Farbe sein und die direkte Vorderansicht des/der Antragstellers/in vor weissem Hintergrund zeigen. Der/Die Antragsteller/in darf keine Brille oder Kopfbedeckung tragen. Eine Kopfbedeckung ist nur in seltenen Ausnahmesituationen erlaubt (z.B. aus religiösen Gründen), und dann auch nur, wenn das Gesicht trotzdem vollständig sichtbar ist.
