VISA INFORMATION/APPLICATION SERVICE

Why do we offer a Visa Information Service? To serve you better!

For years, the Consular Section has been trying to cope with the problem of answering thousands of calls each month. Whether it was an emergency call, a simple visa question or a request for an application form, many callers never got through to consular staff. We simply could not hire enough people to answer all the calls that came in during the day. And answering the calls kept us from waiting on the people who had come in for services.

We now offer you the following information service options:

0900-510300 for Live Service - English and German (Euro 2,16 per minute, defacto)
Our Live Operator Service is in service Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 8:00 pm (local Austrian time). This allows you to call all day or outside our business hours, whenever it's convenient for you. You should call our Live Service to schedule an appointment for your visa interview and to learn about current visa procedures. You will receive courteous, professional and accurate answers to all your visa questions. Note: This telephone number is only available from within Austria.

Why do we have to charge a fee for the service?

In a time of limited resources it seems reasonable to ask the people needing the service to pay for part of its cost, rather than passing on the whole cost to the general taxpayer. This means we can increase the number of operators as quickly as demand for services increase, without going through the annual budget cycle.

Now we can provide our applicants a fast turn-around time on their visa applications and still offer our callers fast and accurate information.
