NACHHALTIGE ENTWICKLUNG

Gemäß der Definition der World Commission on Environment and Development (Weltkommission für Umwelt und Entwicklung, Brundtland-Kommission) versteht man unter nachhaltiger Entwicklung "die Fähigkeit, die Bedürfnisse der heutigen Generationen zu erfüllen, ohne die Möglichkeiten künftiger Generationen zu gefährden, ihre eigenen Bedürfnisse zu erfüllen." Entwicklungsbedürfnisse definiert man heute umfassender als nur rein wirtschaftlich und schließt die gesamten sozialen und politischen Themenbereiche, die die Lebensqualität insgesamt definieren, mit ein.
